Silverwing at the Knitting Factory

Well, last night was an epic adventure for Silverwing. We opened for the Casey Donahew Band at the Knitting Factory in Reno, NV.
First, we've never played at The Knit before and so all new experiences there. Stage set up, sound check, green rooms, just finding a place to park while Hot August Nights is running is an adventure of it's own. Our keyboard player George had to drag her gear from the Cal Neva parking garage across Virginia Street dodging classic cars just to get to the gig.
And it's been a while since we've played in front of such a large crowd of new faces. Lots of beautiful girls with the finest cowgirl bling and tall handsome cowboys with Stetsons. What a good looking crowd. It's easy to get complacent when you play in front of the same folks at your local hangout each month, but last night we had to step up our game.
And that we did! From Rambling Man with Mel and Sean doing their twin guitar leads to the 4 part harmony on My Maria, we had their attention through our whole set.
I think they liked it that we were locals. We got quite the whoop when I said we were from Northern Nevada. I sure hope we see some of these cowboys at our future gigs.
Finally, Casey Donahew put on an incredible show. Great musicians, great stage presence, and the crowd knew the songs and sang along. We gained a lot of respect for the band from Texas last night. I'm sure we'll all be seeing a lot more of them in the future.

Thanks, Mary

Silverwing is a rockin' country band from Northern Nevada.  We love our country with blistering guitar leads and 4 part harmonies.  We take country to the edge.
