Silverwing is a featured artist at Reverbnation
Silverwing is pleased and humbled to let you know that our
song “County Line,” the title track of our newest CD, is a featured song at
Reverbnation this month. This is truly
an unexpected honor for us.
“County Line” is a sweet song about a couple who is working too hard, worn out and stressed. They probably have bosses snapping orders at them and bills piling up on the kitchen counter. It’s been a long week and they are burned out and tired. Maybe they are so wrapped up in the chores and problems that they have forgotten the romance, the love that brought them together. He knows she needs a little special attention to feel beautiful and alive again, so he makes a plan.
He surprises her with a gift of jewelry and encourages her
to dress up and look beautiful. They jump
in the pickup truck and takes a back road out to a dancehall on the edge of
town, at the county line. They wind
their way through the crowd of cowboys and cowgirls, sneak to the back of the
room, cuddle up for a night of drinks and dancing. He proudly swings her around the dance floor
because he knows she is the prettiest girl in the room. This is how to treat
your beloved. This is the glue that
binds a relationship together. This is
how we should handle the tough times, go dancing. This is love.
As far as the song itself, It’s a two step. At our CD release party, the local dance
teacher gave the song her seal of approval, congratulating us on creating such
a great dance tune. Since we spend our
time up on stage, it’s always a puzzle for us.
Will the dancers like this song?
Will the rockers enjoy this song?
You don’t know till you step up there and take that risk. How will it be received? Apparently, we did well.
How was “County Line” created? It probably started with Mel noddling on his
guitar as he sat and rested after a long day. Honestly, that is where so many Silverwing songs are created. So, it was probably a riff or a guitar lick that he
liked and played over and over till a phrase or hook line jumped out at
him. Then from that hook line, Mel and I
decide what the story is about and create a song. Is it happy or sad? Is it about loving or leaving? is it a
drinking song or perhaps, like in this case, a song about twirling around the dance floor?
With this song, if I remember correctly, the phrase was
actually “two stepping around the big dancefloor with me.” So, with that line, our story was created.
We are so thrilled that it is a featured song this month at Reverbnation. Please go hit this link,
